‘I’d just like to say a big thank you to the pupils and staff at Stretford High School for making such a great contribution to our coverage on BBC Radio Manchester about the resurgence of debating clubs and training in schools.
We were so impressed by the pupils who took part in our live broadcast pieces into the breakfast programme. Their enthusiasm, good humour, and willingness to join in with all the topics for discussion that we threw at them, was fantastic. A special mention as well for Miss Denise Beirne for agreeing to be interviewed and for being a brilliant sport when we grilled her about phobias!’

‘Thanks for all your support, you believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and thanks for fitting me into your busy schedule.’
Ex-Student at Stretford High School
‘I would like to say a very special thank you to all as this is my son Mohammad Haseeb Dastageer’s last day in high school.
I really appreciate how you came to my son’s aid when his previous school suddenly closed and he had no time to find an alternative in the most crucial year of his studies.
You kindly opened your door when others refused to accept him in year 11, which had caused me a lot of upset and stress.
From day one the former headteacher (Mr Haseldine), Mrs Brindley and Mrs Hewitt were very reassuring and empathised with Haseeb’s situation and offered great support to facilitate his studies and examination boards.
I am humbled by the the great care given to Haseeb when he faced trials with his health during his GCSE exams.
I would especially like to thank Mrs Roban, Mr Singh and Mrs Hewitt.
Your pastoral care has been wonderful and you treated Haseeb as an individual and not just a statistic when you accommodated his needs.
A warm thank you goes out to his form tutor and all his subject teachers, I really appreciate all your hard work and effort throughout the year.
Thank you to all non teaching staff also who also work very hard to keep the school running smoothly.
Regardless of Haseeb’s results in the summer, I know I made the right choice to send him to your school, you went that extra mile.
I wish the school and staff all the best, keep up the good work!
Thank you very much’
