Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,
I want to give you a quick update to reassure you all that we are addressing the issue raised over the weekend regarding the school donation to The British Red Cross.
First of all, as it was half term last week, the money has not yet been sent. I have spoken with members of our community and pupils today and we are reviewing our plan regarding which charity the money will go to. Once pupils have made a decision, we will inform parents and carers.
The original decision to support The British Red Cross was shared with pupils. The school has not acted against our communities’ best interests at any time. Our only wish was to contribute to a situation where people are suffering and we chose what we believed to be an independent, neutral charity to do so.
We chose a neutral charity so that all members of our community could feel free to donate and we would be united in our efforts to help and do good.
I am hearted by the messages of support that we have had as a school – we are a community school and we know that we work best in tandem with our whole community.
Yours sincerely,
Nicola Doward
