Dear Parent / Carer,
STRETFORD HIGH SCHOOL – Staggered return to school in January
The impact of the Covid pandemic is still proving to be extremely challenging, particularly for our young people. I would like to thank you for your continuing support and feedback during this time – I could not ask for a better community. I am pleased to let you know that we are now making careful preparations to welcome our students safely back to school in January, based on the latest Government advice. Please take time to read this letter carefully as it contains important information about your child’s return to School.
Monday 4th January is an Inset Teacher Training Day for staff and so the school is closed to students. Term starts again for all students on Tuesday 5th January.
In line with Government guidance, Year 11 students will return into school as normal on Tuesday 5th January 2021. They should arrive between 8.30 and 8.45am and access the building via the Talbot Road side gate and go straight to their first lesson.
The Government has asked schools to stagger the return of students into school, which means that Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 students will not return into school until Monday 11th January. However, they are expected to follow all their timetabled lessons at home from Tuesday 5th – Friday 8th January. All students have a google classroom for each of their subjects and a link that allows them to join their lessons. Their teachers will be delivering their usual lessons online from 8.45am – 2.55pm for this first week back.
These arrangements are an essential part of the School’s plans to ensure the safety of all our students and to support the wider community.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming all our students back to School. In the meantime, I wish you a peaceful and safe Christmas holiday.
Yours faithfully
Mrs Doward,
Headteacher.
