Stretford High School
Summary
General and School Elections:-
- Labour party won the general election; Keir Starmer is the new Prime Minister.
- SHS held a mock election to educate students about voting where 182 students registered to vote (24% of school population) with 74 students actually voted (41% turnout).
- Labour Party won with 34 votes. Other results: Workers Party (24), Green Party (10), Liberal Democrats (3), Reform UK (2), Rejoin EU (1), Conservative Party (0).
- The exercise emphasised the importance of voting and being informed.
- KS3 MFL: Students reviewed and diagnosed their knowledge of five modules, then completed therapy worksheets to address weak areas.
- 5KM Run: Year 9 participated in a 5KM run. Jamal was the overall winner with a time of 20 minutes. All students completed the run.
Upcoming Changes and Initiatives
- Forest School: Held a session focusing on nature exploration and outdoor activities.
- Library: Launching a new non-fiction room in September. KS3 students engaged in various writing activities.
- Uniforms: Emphasis on the importance of adhering to uniform guidelines for student wellbeing and development.
- Head Prefects Announced: Neerit K and Rehan H as Head Prefects; Freya N and Noumane M as Deputy Head Prefects.
- Bike Sale: Scheduled for Monday at 2.20 pm.
- Awards and Recognitions: Lists of students nominated for Headteacher’s Awards.
- Year 11 Prefects: Enjoyed a team-building trip at PGL, with activities like raft building and zip wiring, fostering growth and friendship.
