Dear Parents/Carers & Students

Stretford High School

General and School Elections:-

Labour party won the general election; Keir Starmer is the new Prime Minister.
SHS held a mock election to educate students about voting where 182 students registered to vote (24% of school population) with 74 students actually voted (41% turnout).
Labour Party won with 34 votes. Other results: Workers Party (24), Green Party (10), Liberal Democrats (3), Reform UK (2), Rejoin EU (1), Conservative Party (0).
The exercise emphasised the importance of voting and being informed.

MFL and PE Activities

KS3 MFL: Students reviewed and diagnosed their knowledge of five modules, then completed therapy worksheets to address weak areas.
5KM Run: Year 9 participated in a 5KM run. Jamal was the overall winner with a time of 20 minutes. All students completed the run.

Upcoming Changes and Initiatives

Forest School: Held a session focusing on nature exploration and outdoor activities.
Library: Launching a new non-fiction room in September. KS3 students engaged in various writing activities.
Uniforms: Emphasis on the importance of adhering to uniform guidelines for student wellbeing and development.
Head Prefects Announced: Neerit K and Rehan H as Head Prefects; Freya N and Noumane M as Deputy Head Prefects.
Bike Sale: Scheduled for Monday at 2.20 pm.

Awards and Recognitions: Lists of students nominated for Headteacher’s Awards.
Year 11 Prefects: Enjoyed a team-building trip at PGL, with activities like raft building and zip wiring, fostering growth and friendship.
