The St. Ann’s Refugee Appeal

September 2018

Dear Parent/Carer

The Prefect team at Stretford High School would like to inform you all of the charity that they will be raising money for this year. “The St. Ann’s Refugee Appeal”, based in Stretford, is trying to raise £9000 in order to help refugee families settle in the community of Stretford and Old Trafford. This follows on from work that the school has conducted over the last three years supporting refugees throughout Europe. In 2015 Stretford High School sorted tonnes of aid for refugees living in the “Jungle” camp at Calais. This aid was transported to the camp in our school minibus as part of the “Salford-Calais” convoy. In 2016 four of our prefects spent a week working as Teaching Assistants at the Dunkirk Refugee Camp in France. In recognition of their achievement they won the prestigious “Inspire the House” award awarded each year at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster

“The St.Ann’s Refugee Appeal” is the Mayor’s chosen charity for this year. We will be fundraising in conjunction with Stretford Grammar School. Our combined fundraising efforts will be placed into a joint “Justgiving” account which, when complete, will be given to the charity as a combined donation. If you wish to donate yourself then you can do so directly online at the following address:

Our Prefects will be organising a number of activities over the coming year. These will include:

  • Non Uniform days
  • Bake sales
  • Christmas fair
  • Bag packing at Tesco

Please look out for these events and try to support our Prefects in raising money for a very worthwhile charity.

Thank you!
