Update Regarding Today’s Power Outage

Date: 14 May 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to update you on the power outage that affected Stretford High School and the surrounding area earlier today.

The outage caused disruption to our usual operations, including a temporary loss of electricity across the school site. As a result, we had to re-room our Year 11 students who were sitting their GCSE Geography examination. I want to reassure you that this disruption has been formally logged and reported to the relevant examination board, who will take the circumstances into full consideration when reviewing the assessments.

Although power has now been restored to the school, we are still working on bringing all our systems back online. We are currently experiencing ongoing issues with one of our servers, as well as our telephone lines and Wi-Fi connectivity. Our team is working diligently to reinstate full functionality as soon as possible.

Despite today’s challenges, the school will be open as normal tomorrow and all students should attend as usual.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption and any inconvenience this may have caused. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our students for their outstanding patience and maturity throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of how they handled the situation.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,
Nicola Doward
