SHS News 19/03/2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

William Shakespeare once wrote in Othello“Pleasure and action make the hours seem short,” and that has certainly felt true this week! It has been another incredibly busy and rewarding few days at Stretford High School, and it is a joy to see our students throwing themselves into so many different opportunities.

From visits to local bookshops and competitive sporting fixtures to welcoming professional guest speakers into school to inspire our students, the breadth of activity has been fantastic. We are immensely proud of the vibrant learning environment we provide, but we know these events are only possible with your continued support and encouragement. Thank you for partnering with us to give our young people these experiences.

Forest School Highlights A particular highlight this week was our Forest School session. What began as a plan to build a “camp and farm” quickly evolved into a fascinating study of the natural world. After discovering a family of ladybirds, the students’ imagination took over—they spent the afternoon “babysitting” a ladybird named Jeremy and even held a small, respectful funeral for another named Pablo. Seeing them work together so maturely and with such curiosity was a “Forest School Leader’s dream” and a perfect example of our students at their best.

Exemplary Behaviour I also want to commend the students on their conduct during our fire drill this week. They exited the building promptly, calmly, and with great maturity, allowing us to complete the practice in excellent time. It is during these moments that the character of our school community truly shines.

Important Reminders Please remember that the school is closed tomorrow. We hope our students enjoy the long weekend and take the time to recharge.

To those in our community celebrating Eid, I wish you and your families a wonderful, peaceful, and joyous time. We look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready to go, on Monday morning.

Thank you, as ever, for your support.
Take CARE,

Mrs Doward (Headteacher)
