Dear Parents and Carers, students & staff

An “Out of This World” Wow Week (Years 7, 8 and 9)

This week, Key Stage 3 stepped out of the classroom and into the cosmos for our latest Wow Week. Students in Years 7, 8, and 9 spent the week exploring the theme of Space across all of their different subjects.

It was wonderful to see how our staff collaborated to bring this theme to life:

  • In Science and Maths, students calculated rocket trajectories and explored the harsh realities of deep-space environments.

  • In English and Humanities, they debated the ethics of space colonisation and penned some genuinely brilliant science fiction.

  • In Creative Arts, we saw stunning alien landscapes and futuristic design concepts.

The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by our younger students was brilliant to witness. They proved that not even the sky is the limit when it comes to their learning.

A Night to Remember at the Dance Show

On a completely different stage, it was an absolute thrill to watch our students perform in this term’s Dance Show.

To see students from all year groups come together, support one another backstage, and perform with such confidence and grace on stage was incredibly moving. The sheer dedication required to rehearse these pieces—often during lunchtimes and after school—speaks volumes about the character and resilience of our young people. A huge thank you to the Expressive Arts team and to all the parents who came along to support; your applause meant the world to the performers.

Welcoming Our Future Year 7 Students

Alongside celebrating our current students, it was an absolute pleasure to greet the Year 6 students who will be joining us as our new Year 7 cohort next academic year.

They had a wonderful transition day getting to know the layout of the school and meeting their future teachers. The day was packed with activities, including trying out some exciting secondary-style lessons and—crucially—sampling the food in our school canteen (which received an enthusiastic thumbs-up!). They conducted themselves beautifully, and we are so excited to welcome them officially in September.

Looking to the Future: Exploring AI

Finally, as a school, we always strive to ensure our students are prepared for the world of tomorrow. With that in mind, we have officially started exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

Technology is evolving rapidly, and we want to ensure our students understand how to use AI tools ethically, critically, and safely. Over the coming terms, we will be looking at how AI can support learning, enhance digital literacy, and streamline some of our own practices, while always keeping human creativity and critical thinking at the heart of what we do. We will keep you updated as this project develops.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, partnership, and engagement with everything we do here. I hope you and your families have a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Take CARE,

Mrs Doward (Headteacher)
