SHS News 21/05/2026
As we wrap up another incredibly busy week at Stretford High School, my main reflection today is one of immense pride. The GCSE exam season is now well and truly underway, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate how brilliantly our school community has risen to the occasion.
Shining Bright: Our Remarkable Year 11s
First and foremost, I want to shine a spotlight on our Year 11 students. They have made a fantastic start to their GCSE exams. Walking into an exam hall can be a daunting experience, but our students have crossed that threshold with incredible maturity, dignity, and pride. They have shown up focused, prepared, and ready to shine. We could not ask for a better representation of our school values, and they are a true credit to themselves and to Stretford High. Keep it up, year 11—we are all cheering you on!
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Families
Behind every student walking into that hall is a supportive home team. To all of our families: thank you. We know that exam season isn’t just felt in the classroom—it’s felt at the kitchen table, during late-night revision sessions, and in the morning pep talks. Thank you for your endless patience, for keeping the snacks stocked, and for providing the steady encouragement your children need right now.
Your partnership with the school makes all the difference, and we deeply appreciate your unwavering support.
Gratitude to the Stretford High Team
I must extend my sincerest thanks to our incredible staff here at Stretford High School. From the meticulously organised exam invigilation to the last-minute breakfast revision sessions and the vital emotional reassurance at the door, their dedication is unmatched. They are working tirelessly to ensure every single student feels calm, confident, and capable of doing their absolute best.
A Milestone Moment: Friday Celebration & Study Leave
This coming Friday marks a major milestone for our Year 11s, as it will be their last official full day of school before they begin their study leave. Friday is always a beautifully bittersweet milestone in the school calendar—a day of celebration, tears, and joy as we reflect on their five-year journey with us. We look forward to giving them a wonderful send-off as they transition to this next phase of independent preparation.
Half-Term Break: Time to Recharge
With that in mind, our upcoming half-term break couldn’t come at a better time. I hope all of our students—and especially our Year 11s—take this well-deserved opportunity to completely switch off, relax, and truly recharge their batteries. While we still have a final stretch of exams and focused hard work ahead, this pause is vital. I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed, refocused, and ready for a strong return to school.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful, restful half-term week
Take CARE
