Dear Parents/Carers
SHS News 24/10/25
As we head into half term, a heartfelt thank you for your support this term and, in particular, for helping the children to come in today to celebrate Power of You. The idea behind Power of You is simple: to give children the chance to dress in a way that celebrates the things that shape who they are — their interests, culture, beliefs, families, languages and dreams for the future. We saw that in abundance today: colour, creativity and confidence everywhere. We are so proud — and genuinely privileged — to be part of this community.
Thank you, too, for your continued support with uniform and attendance. We can see that our children are building real resilience: coming to school when they can, and recognising when they need to stay at home because they’re unwell. That judgement is an important life skill, and we appreciate your partnership in helping them get it right.
We’re also noticing the pride children are taking in their presentation and uniform. It makes a huge difference to the tone of the school and the sense of purposeful community we value so highly.
We are so proud of our Green and Golden children this half term. It was so lovely to see them capture their achievement on camera today – well done to them. Of course, we have a fresh start next half term so everyone has the opportunity to go Green or even Gold!
With darker evenings and seasonal celebrations on the way, a quick word about bonfires and fireworks. Please encourage safe behaviour around the community. If you’re celebrating, a few simple reminders can help keep everyone safe:
- Attend organised displays where possible.
- Keep a safe distance from fireworks and never return to a lit firework.
- Never leave bonfires unattended; keep water or sand nearby and make sure fires are fully extinguished.
- Supervise children closely; sparklers need gloves, an arm’s length, and one at a time.
- Be mindful of neighbours and pets.
Thank you once again for everything you do. Have a lovely, restful half term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for the next chapter.
Thank you for your continuing support.
